One more sleep!

One more sleep till my pilgramage to Mexico!

The table is set!
(Ok, guys these are actually my pics. Most of the pics you see on this blog are from Flikr under the "creative commons" label which means everybody can use the photos that have the "cc" label on them).
I'm off to Mexico with beautiful praying friends to ask a beautiful God for His transforming ways to shine in Guadalajara. As God has been blessing me with intercessors on this journey, one verse that Sandra gave me sticks out to me today:
Psalm 10:17
"Lord, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart, You will cause Your ear to hear"
Love it!
I must say that I love being prayed for. I used to feel silly asking others to pray for me, however, I realized this was a pride thing. Now, I love receiving prayer! This has been a transforming thing for me in prayer....to receive (muse on and accept) others prayers. As I'm able to humble myself and ask for help on my journey, it is so strengthening allowing others to stand with you, no matter what space you are in and receive Jesus' grace through their words to the Father on your behalf. Yesterday one of my intercessors came over and prayed for me for about a 1/2 hour. It was so incredible to just soak it all in, it was hugely strengthening!
To the One at the end of the prayer line...
To you be all Honour and Praise.
May I fall in love with you more than the act of prayer or being prayed for.

Gold Finch Frenzy

I have counted around 12-13 gold finches at our bird feeder today! Along with some purple finches (they actually look red, as pictured above), a woodpecker, and I'm sure I'll see our wood ducks today as well.

A Decent Burial

We don't owe this old do-it-yourself life one red cent. There's nothing in it for us, nothing at all. The best thing to do is give it a decent burial and get on with your new life. God's Spirit beckons. There are things to do and places to go!

A focusing Love

The past months I feel like I have been fighting a lot of negative thought patterns with the Truth found in Scripture. I have been rightly challenged to walk in the Truth of who I am even when I feel very opposite. However, since I have been so much about cognitive battles lately, I feel my heart has lacked just sitting on the lap of Jesus, being small, and being His beloved. Yesterday, I so desperately wanted to know him with my heart. Knowing I cannot manufacture this, I felt him asking me to trust Him to warm up my heart, for it feels very cold! This morning, sure enough, I melted on his lap as I felt his heartbeating for me. Wow, this feels so cozy and warm.

"He takes us to the high places of blessing in him...he had his mind set on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by [drumroll] His LOVE! " (Eph 1)

I am the focus of his love.

I am THE FOCUS of his love.

FOCUS Definition: a central point, as of attraction, attention, or activity

He pours all his attraction and attention onto me.

Talk about high places of blessing.

A Protecting and Comforting Banner

His banner over me is love --this love is waved above me as a protecting and comforting banner.
SoS 2:4

As we look up at this banner it is sometimes hard to fathom or believe.
Often for me a film of unbelief, unworthiness, or just plain unawareness keeps me from realizing how ever-present His Love and Faithfulness is above me, below me, beside me as I grocery shop, drive to work, and do the dishes. As I comb my hair he is singing an excitable song of how he loves to be my right hand man.

Often when I feel blah, a film starts to cover this banner. Fortunately the other day I felt he said "hey, you're blah-ness does not de-activate my love and faithfulness to you"...."Just because you do not feel close to Me does not mean my love is not there for you to receive whenever you want -- whether you feel worthy or not!"

He is like this because it is His nature! It is simply who He really is. Oh, that my nature would be the same...

Declare it with me and the Psalmist:

I declare that your steadfast love is established forever; your faithfulness is as firm as the heavens (Psalm 89:2)

Custom-made Jewelry

The right word at the right time is like a custom-made piece of jewelry, and a wise friend's timely reprimand is like a gold ring slipped on your finger.

First Kidney Infection Song

(Sing like you’re an exile hoping for Zion. You know like one of those “wade in the water” type songs)

On Sunday you had me a cryin’
And I didn’t wanna be a dyin’

Dar-dar said I must go to the doc
When I almost the door did lock

(Chorus, sing with vigour)
Dar-dar saved my life, yeah,
Dar-dar saved my life, (yoooouuu)

Oh yeah, it was youuuuu…(oooh,ooh)

My urethra it is feeling better
But my kidneys are bound with a fetter

I feel like I have two balloons in my back
The pain is not too bad, so I’m glad it does lack

Bridge:

So hand me another ciprofloxacin
Where is the lady with the acidopholus?

Oh yeah, victory is coming for me today,

Hey! Hey! Hey!

Victory is coming for me today!

The Hut is open!

(cc)

It is a great day to be alive. My uncle Mo (pictured above) and I went out for our first icecream today. He always seems to like the colourful kinds.

Fruit & Light (Fruta y Luz)

(cc)

For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light--for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true

Ephesians 5:8-9

It is quite amazing how naturally my thoughts consist of messages that lead me
down a path of worry, unrest, and despair. I battle daily to believe that I
actually have the DNA of His Light within my brain. His Light in my brain thinks
on what is good, right, and true. However, I also have a thinking default that
reverts to worrying. This default-thinking entertains thoughts such as:

  • "It's hopeless"

  • "What if something bad happens to my husband while he is in Winnipeg today"

  • "I'm scared of passing on baggage to my future kids, I think I'll be a terrible mother"

  • "I keep screwing up, why can't I change faster?"

Is this how children of the Light think? Are these thoughts that are good, right, and true?

Father of Light, enable our thoughts to rest in thoughts of goodness, hope, and Truth.

Snow, Class, and Friends

Tuesday night we came home to beautiful snowy trees!

I just started a new class. These 2 small books for $157!

I made a new friend yesterday and have grown very fond of her in a very short time!

I also met with some old & spunky friends last night, never a dull moment! Thanks for engaging me in my tired-state! Hmmm...looks like that pic of all 3 of us didn't turn out quite right.
Wish I could see these gems more often.

A Marvelous Monday!

You're blessed when you're content with just who you are—no more, no less

Dono and I went to a hotel on Sunday night. He left early in the morning for Regina while I got going around 8:30 and enjoyed a quiet morning doing homework.

At 10:30 I met Erin and she introduced me to the Voila Café (266 Edmonton street, near Portage place mall) which I strongly recommend to any café lovers (Candice, Darlene, Michelle...) It’s a lil’ more European as far as the menu is concerned. I consumed a strawberry-Nutella crepe (very small serving!) for breaky along with a tasty cappuccino.

Next stop: MEC : Erin got a swanky backpack.
Next stop: Cornelia bean: Erin got a swanky waterbottle.

Look out Mexico!
For lunch we enjoyed some veggie focaccia’s at Saucers on Academy Road.

Thanks for the lovely date Erin!
